SCOTT PRAISES PANTHERS FANS

SCOTT Nicholls has paid tribute to Peterborough’s fans for sticking by the team.

Panthers had a rocky first season back in the top flight with a crippling injury list but the loyal supporters stood by them.

Now club bosses are plotting a second successive season in the Premiership and the team building regulations will be confirmed at the sport’s AGM next week.

Said Nicholls: “Peterborough was a good move for me after being released by Wolverhampton.

“It’s a track I know well and a side I have a lot of admiration for. The fans were really patient with the team after what has happened with injuries and a run of poor results.

“Having a disjointed home schedule didn’t help and we never seemed to be able to go on a run of wins which was frustrating for everyone at the club.

“The fans always turned out each meeting and credit to them for that. Even at Wolverhampton at the end of the season the fans were there in decent numbers to support the side.

“I’ve grown up with fans backing their side home and away in large numbers and Peterborough fans are no different.”

Nicholls says the fans deserve a successful side next season – whether he is included or not.

“Hopefully the side will have a better run of results next season and the loyal Panthers fans can have a team that can challenge for honours and you will see the place packed out each meeting,” he said.

Promoters Carl Johnson and Colin Pratt are expected to represent the club at Coventry for the AGM which begins next Wednesday.
