PETERBOROUGH promoter Ged Rathbone says the club’s quadruple bid is still on as they host Lakeside in the Championship Shield today (Sunday, 5pm).
The Panthers successfully defended their first-leg advantage in the KO Cup against the Hammers last night to set up a semi-final with Scunthorpe.
In the Shield, though, it is Lakeside who travel with a ten-point lead after their 50-40 success in the first half of a double-header at Hoddesdon, where they secured a last-heat 5-1.
Rathbone said: “We can still win the quadruple, with the play-offs to come next week, and this is a massive night for us.
“We were massive underdogs at Rye House last night with the injuries we had to contend with, but we came through it with a place in the KO Cup semi-finals and now we have another big one today.
“Pulling back ten points can be done, but we’re going to need everyone right behind us because Lakeside have been very clever with how they’ve put their line-up together.
“We can still do something very special this season – Workington can still win a treble, and Lakeside can do a double, but we still have the chance to win four trophies which is remarkable at this stage."
