PETERBOROUGH star Lewis Blackbird battles for a place in the British Final tonight (Wednesday).
Blackbird lines up in the second national semi at Rye House and goes into the meeting on a high following a fine performance for the 'TC Harrison' Panthers in their 54-40 victory over Newcastle in a Premier League thriller last night (Tuesday).
Blackbird, who also races in the Elite League with Eastbourne, has high hopes of making the cut for the final at his former home track of Monmore Green in Wolverhampton.
He said: "I wouldn't class Rye House as one of my best tracks as I've had a few bad meetings there, but it would mean so much if I could make it through to the British Final.
"Just to be involved in a meeting like that would be brilliant and Wolverhampton is a place I like."
Blackbird will go into the semi-final tonight on a high after an eight-point display for Panthers last night.
It was a welcome return to form following a tough weekend as he struggled for points in the club's away defeats at Workington and Glasgow.
Blackbird added: "I had a really bad weekend when I let the club and the fans down - and I apologise for that.
"It was a nightmare to have two really poor meetings after starting the season so well, but I was pleased to get back to scoring points against Newcastle."
