PETERBOROUGH roared to the top of the Elite League – with a quickfire Easter double.
The Readypower Panthers claimed their second Good Friday victory with a ten-point win at Coventry.
Having already beaten the Bees at the East of England Showground, they completed a double to pick up a valuable four points with a 51-41 victory.
And it was relatively plain sailing as Peterborough riders won 11 of the 15 heats at a sodden Brandon.
Skipper Niels-Kristian Iversen’s first heat victory set a pattern that was rarely interrupted by the home side who are still seeking their first win of the season.
The only hiccup came in Heat 2 where Coventry had a maximum but after the Panthers levelled the scores in Heat 3 they were never behind.
Iversen, a rejuvenated Troy Batchelor and Kenneth Bjerre all had three race wins while exciting new signing Krzysztof Buczkowski turned in another impressive display, coming good in the middle of the meeting.
Cockahoop team boss Trevor Swales beamed: “It’s been a perfect day and a perfect start.
“I don’t think anyone really though we would claim a maximum seven points from our first two Elite League matches.
“Everybody weighed in and our top three were magnificent.”
Peterborough conquered tricky conditions after a downpour saw the meeting delayed for around half an hour.
It was only after a track inspection and remedial work that the match carried on – and the Panthers adapted far more easily that the homesters.
