Peterborough Readypower Panthers v Coventry Buildbase Bees
Thursday 1st October – Midland League

The Panthers turn their attention to Midland League action this week as the Coventry Bees visit the Showground on Thursday.

The Bees haven’t fared to well so far in this end of season competition as they have lost all three of their matches so far including home losses to ourselves and Wolverhampton.

Nevertheless they have tasted success at the Showground this year and it’s likely they will be out to prove a point. This will be the 4th time the Bees have ridden at Alwalton this year and yet again it will be a slightly different team on this occasion as it was on the previous three.

Chris Harris, Edward Kennett and Rory Schlein have all ridden previously but the bottom end has changed considerably with riders in and out as the Bees have juggled due to the amount of injuries they have suffered this year.

Ricky Wells sustained a badly bruised back in last weeks semi final 1st leg against Swindon last week and missed the 2nd leg on Monday; it’s not known at this time if he will ride on Thursday or not.

Panthers meanwhile still have a question mark against Kenneth Hansen, whose comeback recently in Denmark was again aborted after problems with re occurring head problems.
It’s not clear if he will be fit to ride at this stage but a decision will be made nearer the time.

New October GSA will affect the Panthers line up with Claus Vissing dropping down to reserve and Ales Dryml moving back up into the main body as a result of average changes.

Team Manager Trevor Swales said: “We have managed to extend the season with two meaningful matches in the Midland League and with our recent form somewhat better over the last few matches I am hopeful we can end on a high. We want to win, but are taking nothing for granted from Coventry who have showed this year that they never know when they are beaten”.

Owner Rick Frost said: “This promises to be an exciting meeting against our local friends and rivals Coventry if our previous matches with them are anything to go by. Having narrowly missed out in the play offs it would be nice to win the Midland League and have something to show for our hard work this year”.
