Poole 49 Peterborough 41 Monday 14th September - Elite League B
Poole produced another competent display to take all points on offer and send the Panthers packing as both clubs completed their league fixtures for 2009
Early on it looked like this fixture might go down to the wire but the home sides all to evident top 4 took control and despite good displays from Kenneth Bjerre and Niels Kristian Iversen they gradually built up a lead that they never really looked like losing.
Iversen made a good start to lead the first and despite pressure from Andersen hung onto the win with Vissing also giving Screen a run for his money for third.
Boxall trapped in the second to give Poole the lead with Dryml just slitting the home pair as Jacobsen fell whilst at the rear.
Pedersen made the better start to lead heat 3 but Bjerre swooped around him on the first bend and rode a tidy race to level the scores.
Korneliussen got a flyer in the first run of heat 4 and not surprisingly the referee called it back, Dryml made the start in the rerun but was quickly passed by Holder as Boxall relegated Korneliussen to the rear.
Both Pirates made good gates in heat 5 but whilst Pedersen went clear Ksiezak was quickly caught and passed by both panthers for a shared heat.
Pirates stretched their lead to 6 with a fairly easy 5-1 in heat 6 with Korneliussen having no answers to Andersen and Screen.
Bjerre reduced the deficit to 4 with a superb move on early leader Holder, Holder gave chase and chased hard all the way but Bjerre made no mistakes with Vissing taking third place.
Dryml and Screen enjoyed a couple of laps of wheel to wheel action before Screen took control. Boxall retired whilst at the rear and then Drymls machine gave up the ghost on the last bend allowing team mate Vissing through for second place.
Ksiezak caused heat 9 to be stopped after losing it on the third bend after a great start, Korneliussen close behind him had no chance and piled into the air fence. Pedersen ensured a share of the points with a tapes to flag win in the rerun.
Bjerre completed another superb first corner to defeat Andersen in heat 10 as the points were shared for the third consecutive heat but Pirates up the ante with a 4-2 in the 11th through Holder and Wilson. Panthers hit back with a 4-2 of their own in heat 12 through Korneliussen and Dryml but the advantage was short lived as Holder and Andersen took a maximum in 13 with Andersen perhaps a little hard on his Danish team mate Iversen.
Bjerre and Dryml shot away to lead the 14th but Pedersen produced a great move to go between the pair of them and he ensured Pirates won the match with a comfortable win from then on.
Holder completed a good night’s work with his 4th win in the nominated heat 15 with Bjerre and Iversen having to be content with shutting out Pedersen.
This was a somewhat better performance than for the A fixture but despite everyone enjoying at least one good race their were too many inconsistencies to take advantage and once again only 5 heat winners from 15 heats.
For Panthers this was a match that meant very little but the Pirates live to fight another day as they strive to avoid the wooden spoon with their fate now out of their hands.
