AUSTRALIAN ace Rohan Tungate is back with Peterborough for a second successive season.
And Crendon Panthers boss Carl Johnson says the club have secured a rider who has proved he can be one of the top riders in the league.
It means the city side are now up to five riders on their rosta for 2020, which starts in just a month with the club’s 50th anniversary meeting on Sunday March 15.
And Johnson has hinted more will follow soon as they close in on finalising their team.
“I’ve said from day one of team building that I want a team this season which will be popular with the fans.
“But it’s also important to me to have a team that can ride the showground and so far I think the team is looking very strong at home. Rohan fits the bill in both these categories perfectly.
“The final two places should come together nicely now the jigsaw is being pieced together.
“It may be a team with a few older heads but a team that is certainly capable of giving everything in every race. That’s what fans want to see, all-out effort.
“I personally think our fans are going to have a season of entertainment and I can’t wait to see these guys in action.”
Johnson is backing Tungate for a big season after he secured bronze in the Aussie Championship.
“Rohan certainly showed last season that he can be one of the best riders in the Premiership,” he said.
“His performances at the Showground at times were absolutely breathtaking. He lacks some consistency and some belief at times but there is a real racer inside him.
“I’ve wanted him back from the moment the season finished, I see a side to him that many others don’t and I also see a rider that if he came with the attitude of being the best rider in the league he would certainly push the best home and away.
“He always has a smile even when things are not going his way like at the start of last season but he managed to turn things around and yes we had a couple of issues with him but nothing to change my mind about having him back.”
The club have also confirmed their team sponsor this year will be Crendon Timber and the club sponsor is City Auction Group.
“We appreciate the support of both Steve Thompstone and Crendon and Michael Tomalin at City Auction Group,” said Johnson. “We are proud to carry the identity of both brands.”
TEAM SO FAR: Hans Andersen, Chris Harris, Rohan Tungate, Michael Palm Toft, Bradley Wilson-Dean.
