MICHAEL Palm Toft is heading back to Peterborough and is the first confirmed starter for the 2020 season.
Dynamic Dane Palm Toft was a popular member of the club’s Championship side last year when he scored over 200 points and notched a tidy 8.66 average.
He will have a big role to play in the engine room of the Panthers side as they prepare for a second successive Premiership season.
Palm Toft has revealed he was pleasantly surprised to get the call to move across to the Showground from King’s Lynn.
“I am very pleased to be back with Peterborough,” he said. “It was a bit of a surprise too, but I am very pleased to be back with the club and I can’t wait for the season to start.
“I went to the Showground late on in 2019 and I scored pretty well. I definitely feel that I can replicate my form from when I was with the Panthers in the Championship when I take to the track next season.
“I am coming back to the club with much better equipment than I have had in the past, so my bikes are going to be even better than they have been. I am very much looking forward to the season now and I really think I can do the job for the Panthers.”
He says Panthers had a tough time last season mainly thanks to injuries.
“I think that Peterborough were very unfortunate with how things worked out for them last year because they had a lot of injuries and that definitely didn’t help them,” he said. “I think we can go a bit better this season and the team looks pretty good from what I have been told, so like I say, I can’t wait!
“I can’t wait to be back on a bike around Peterborough and I can’t wait to see all the fans again because they have a really good fanbase at the Showground and I am looking forward to getting going now.
“It means a lot to be back around people I know well, but also with Keith Chapman owning the club now.
“I have only got good things to say about him and it does help that we know how things work with him, and it makes things easier that you don’t have to worry about things because they just get done.”
