PETERBOROUGH fans are just over a week away from learning who their first signing will be for next season.
And the club have confirmed team building plans are set to include a combination of new and familiar faces.
Co-promoter Colin Pratt is in favour of keeping riders fans can identify with, pointing to Swindon’s argument that they wanted to keep the same team which won the league.
And even though Panthers struggled in their first season back in the top flight for various reasons, some of the team are set to return to the Showground.
Said Pratt: “The big thing about keeping your team is that you get back to real club speedway instead of having 14 riders turn up and two lots of seven race each other.
“We seem to have had riders doing two matches and then going into someone else’s one-to-seven, and some clubs don’t persevere enough.
“We have a five-year television contract to uphold, and we need a good Premiership to be able to do that.”
Pratt will be alongside co-promoter and team manager Carl Jonson to unveil the first signing of the season at the Supporters Club Christmas Quiz.
It takes place on Friday December 13 at the Post Office Sports and Social Club, Bourges Boulevard, Peterborough PE1 2AU with Pratt and boss Carl Johnson in attendance.
The evening starts at 7.30pm and admission to non-members is £2.
