PANTHERS MAN STAYS DEFIANT

PLUCKY Peterborough racer Rohan Tungate has no fears about facing some of the top riders in the world when Belle Vue visit Alwalton on Monday (7.30).

Tungate has been a shining light in an up-and-down season for the club after making the switch from the Aces in the winter.

He’ll be up against Swedish Grand Prix finalist Max Fricke and former Grand Prix regular Kenneth Bjerre in another tough ask of the city side.

“I’ve come up against some top tough guys in this league this year but I’ve gone into each meeting feeling pretty confident,” said the Crendon Panthers ace.

“I know I can push the top guys in this league and I think I’ve proved that throughout the year.

“I’ve got a new mechanic now as well though and since he came in last month I’ve been even happier with how my form has been.

“The last three or four meetings have been good for me and now I want to keep it going.

“All the meetings between now and the end of the season are even more important and we can’t afford to lose many more.

“We definitely have to win our home meetings and we’ve got Belle Vue in two of those who are pretty strong this year.

“We know what we can do as a team though – we just need to go out there and do it!”

THE FULL Tungate interview appears in Monday’s souvenir programme, priced £3 on entry to the venue.
