PETERBOROUGH complete their current run of away matches with a trip to league leaders Belle Vue on Thursday (7.30pm).
The Crendon Panthers picked up three points from a terrific win at Poole a fortnight ago, before just missing out at Ipswich one week later. They were then postponed due to the weather at Wolverhampton on Monday.
It is scheduled to be their third visit of the season to the National Speedway Stadium, where they have previously performed creditably but with no reward.
In the Premiership Supporters’ Cup they were beaten 50-40, whilst in their league visit at the end of April – prior to their team changes – they went down 51-39.
Panthers are boosted by an improvement in their injury situation, with Josh Bates declared fit to return after nearly three weeks out.
Bates has so far made only one appearance for the club after a crash when racing for his Championship club Leicester, which ruled him out of the subsequent matches at Wimborne Road and Foxhall.
But skipper Hans Andersen remains on the sidelines due to his shoulder blade injury, having aborted his comeback after two rides in last week’s GP Qualifier at Glasgow.
With Wolverhampton scheduled to be the only Premiership team not racing on Thursday, it is likely that Panthers will be forced to operate rider-replacement for the Dane.
Boss Carl Johnson explained: “We did contact Nick Morris, who realistically was the only possible option, but he was already flying out to Poland on Thursday.
“The only other option we have would be if one of the other meetings on Thursday gets called off early enough, we may be able to get a guest from one of those clubs.
“We just have to monitor the situation, and obviously if it has to be rider-replacement for Hans then that’s what we’ll go with and get on with.”
Table-topping Belle Vue are at full strength with five wins and a draw from their six home league matches so far in 2019.
