PETERBOROUGH'S Tom Bacon made a most creditable first appearance in the Premiership as a guest for Wolverhampton at Swindon on Monday.

Bacon's recent form had clearly been noted by Wolves bosses, who called him up to replace Nathan Greaves after their regular reserve crashed out at Glasgow last Friday.

Bacon scored 4+1 from four rides at the Abbey Stadium, twice beating his former Birmingham team-mate Jack Smith - but perhaps more significantly, he was well clear of team-mate for the night Cameron Heeps.

That led to Bacon replacing Heeps in Heat 12, although he lost his final ride when Wolves dropped ten points down and had to use a tactical substitute in Heat 14.

And his score could have been higher when he made a stunning start in Heat 8, when he was up against David Bellego, Zach Wajtknecht and partnered by Ashley Morris, only to unfortunately hit a rut on the first bend and run wide.
