PETERBOROUGH race for the second time in two nights when they visit Lakeside in the Championship Shield on Friday (8pm).

The T.Balfe Construction Panthers are on a high after Thursday’s dramatic win at Ipswich, and any further points on the road at Purfleet will further enhance their position in the group.

The Hammers salvaged a point from their visit to the East of England Arena last month, but will be racing at home as a team for the first time in 2018.

And whilst the Arena-Essex Raceway is always regarded as a strong fortress, whichever league they are racing in, Panthers boss Carl Johnson believes his side have riders who will be well suited to the tight circuit.

He said: “We’re pretty confident wherever we go, and I really feel we have riders who could be well suited to Lakeside – maybe more so than Ipswich!

“We have to keep building the confidence in the riders, and if we can keep doing that then it’s going to grow and grow.

“The team spirit at Ipswich was excellent, the boys want to work hard and do well, and I think we’ve already proved after two meetings that we shouldn’t ever be written off – we’re never down!”

Teams from:
LAKESIDE: Alfie Bowtell, Adam Ellis, Richard Lawson, Ben Morley, Nick Morris, Kyle Newman, Zach Wajtknecht.
PETERBOROUGH: Tom Bacon, Emil Grondal, Simon Lambert, Nike Lunna, Scott Nicholls, Ulrich Ostergaard, Michael Palm Toft.
