Peterborough Speedway is pleased to announce the return of Neil Watson as Co-Promoter at the club with immediate effect.

It’s a familiar position for Watson who last held the role in 2006 when Colin Horton was at the helm. He is of course a lifelong supporter of the Panthers and the lure of coming back to his home town speedway club was just too good an opportunity for him to turn down. He has remained a regular visitor to the East of England Arena since Ged Rathbone took over the club and the Panthers supremo welcomes the announcement;

“Neil has long been a friend of this club and its supporters, his knowledge and expertise of the sport’s rulebook is second to none and of course we welcome him to the management team as a replacement for Trevor Swales who retired at the end of the 2017 season. Neil is of course local to the track and that additional support is vital to us to ensure the smooth running of Peterborough Speedway going forwards."

Watson is naturally delighted to be back aboard the Panthers team and is looking forward to the 2018 season;
"I am delighted to be joining the Peterborough management team in 2018 for my third shift as club Promoter. I have been a Panthers fan since 1970, and that long association with the club and the sport in general will I hope stand me in good stead for the role. I am grateful to Mick Horton for his trust in me over many years and leave Coventry Bees with sadness, but also excitement about the new challenge working with Ged, Lisa, Carl, the track staff and the fans old and new, without whom there wouldn’t be a club."

Panthers still have the final two pieces of the team jigsaw to announce with 13.76 available to them for the remaining two team berths. Further announcements will be made as soon as deals are signed and sealed but confidence is high that news will be forthcoming soon on that front.
