TEAM manager Carl Johnson has issued a public thank-you to everyone who played a part in Peterborough's double-winning season.

The 'T Balfe Construction' Panthers lifted the SGB Championship KO Cup last night following a 92-88 aggregate triumph against East Anglian rivals Ipswich.

It is a second piece of silverware to follow up the Fours triumph back in August - a trophy haul which means the 2017 campaign will be classed as a big success.

Johnson said: "Picking up two major trophies in the same season is a huge achievement from everyone involved.

"I want to place on record my thanks to our riders, mechanics, management and fantastic supporters as it wouldn't have been possible without them.

"Ipswich certainly didn't deserve to lose the way they did after seeing Rory Schlein and Danny King get hurt during the final.

"But, on the other hand, I feel we deserved them trophy for our fantastic form in the last part of the season.

"We could easily have let it slide when we knew the play-offs were beyond us, but the boys kept going brilliantly and got their reward.

"It was tight - a lot tighter than it probably should have been - but we got the job done in the end.

"We've had plenty of highs and a few lows this year, but we've stayed strong throughout and and it's great to have two trophies to celebrate."

And Peterborough will be doing just that tonight at their sold-out end-of-season bash at the Post Office Club in the city.
