TEAM boss Carl Johnson believes Peterborough can complete their mission to reach the SGB Championship KO Cup Final.

The ‘T Balfe Construction’ Panthers travel to Glasgow tonight (Thursday) to face the holders in the second leg of a semi-final showdown.

Peterborough built up a 10-point aggregate advantage with a 50-40 triumph in the first leg at the East of England Showground last Sunday.

But Johnson is quick to admit the tie is in the balance ahead of the return clash at Peugeot Ashfield Stadium (7.30pm).

Johnson said: “It was important to take a lead from the first leg – although we didn’t quite manage the sort of cushion it looked like we might build up at one stage.

“We cannot allow Glasgow to build any sort of momentum early in the meeting tonight. A 10-point advantage could be wiped out in the space of three of four races, and that’s not something we want to see happen.

“But, on the other hand, we could also put the tie out of Glasgow’s reach in a similar amount of time if we start well.

“We have plenty of guys capable of winning races up there and the key thing will be to avoid last places.

“It’s going to be a high-pressure night but I’m confident we can handle it. Everyone is determined to do all they can to reach the final.”

Peterborough are again without Bradley Wilson-Dean due to illness. They have also booked Ben Hopwood to guest at reserve in place of the injured Tom Bacon.

The mouth-watering prospect of an East Anglian derby final against Ipswich awaits if Peterborough can see off Glasgow.

Should they reach the final, the first leg will be staged at the East of Engand Arena on Sunday (October 22).
