BIG-GUNS Ulrich Ostergaard and Lasse Bjerre sensationally snatched a vital 46-44 victory for Peterborough in the race for the Premier League play-offs.
The Danish duo combined for a heat 15 maximum as the ‘TC Harrison’ Panthers sneaked to success over Glasgow in a nail-biting East of England Showground crash.
Ostergaard flew from the traps to take command through the opening couple of bends and Bjerre overcame early trouble to follow in his skipper’s wheeltracks.
Their exploits ensured the hosts hit the front for the first time just when it mattered most, but Glasgow were well worth the consolation point they collected.
Panthers had fallen behind when reserve pair Max Dilger and Nicki Barrett were on the receiving end of a 5-1 in heat two and had trailed until Ostergaard and Bjerre also combined to great effect to in heat 13. The hosts were eventually awarded a 5-1 as Glasgow man Rusty Harrison suffered a heavy second-lap smash.
But Panthers quickly found themselves trailing again as Adam Roynon’s tumble in the penultimate race handed the Tigers duo of Tero Aarnio and impressive reserve guest Adam Ellis a 4-2, but the two high-scoring Danes salvaged the situation.
Ostergaard dropped only one point despite riding through the pain after a big crash at Scunthorpe last Friday while countryman Bjerre was paid for 14.
Ales Dryml returned from a back injury with paid 13 while Roynon racked up five despite twice hitting the deck. He had also fallen without contact in heat 3 when he and Dryml were on a 5-1.
Reserves Max Dilger and Nicki Barrett found the going tough although the former did claim important late contributions.
