PETERBOROUGH squandered another opportunity to jump into the Premier League play-off places with a disappointing derby display.
The ‘TC Harrison’ Panthers were no match for high-flying Ipswich in an East Anglian battle at Foxhall last night (Thursday).
Number one Lasse Bjerre and in-form Ales Dryml were the only Peterborough riders to emerge with credit after scoring the majority of Panthers’ points.
They both made the most of tactical rides with Dryml taking the chequered flag when wearing black and white in heat 11 and Bjerre doing likewise in heat 11.
But those efforts were not enough to keep Peterborough in contention on a night when they were condemned to defeat with three races to spare and saw any faint hopes of a consolation league point disappear after heat 13.
Bjerre was on the receiving end of a harsh exclusion in that race after hitting the deck following a hard overtaking move from rival number one Rohan Tungate.
The remaining Panthers riders were bitterly disappointing as Richard Hall was gifted both of his points by crashes for home riders while Adam Roynon, Nicki Barrett and Max Dilger all failed to beat opponents.
Panthers are back in action tomorrow (Friday) when they travel to play-off rivals Scunthorpe for a fifth meeting in four days.
They have drafted in Newcastle man Stuart Robson to guest at number one in place of the unavailable Bjerre.
