PETERBOROUGH were unable to repeat the heroics of Good Friday 2012 as rivals King’s Lynn took double derby honours at the start of the new Elite League season.
The Readypower Panthers were outpointed 50-40 at the East of England Showground in the afternoon, whilst the evening fixture was curtailed three races early due to icy conditions, with the Stars ahead by eight.
The decision to abandon came after a crash between Linus Sundstrom and Niels-Kristian Iversen in the attempt to run Heat 13, with Panthers having clawed their way back from 12-points down to move back into contention to salvage an Elite League point.
That was despite the withdrawal from the meeting of Ryan Fisher, who thankfully walked away from a heavy accident in Heat 5 and has suffered bumps and bruises but seemingly no further damage.
Star of the show in the evening meeting for the Panthers was reserve Dakota North, who picked up three race wins at the end of a most profitable day for the Australian.
KING’S LYNN 41: Simon Stead 10+1, Mads Korneliussen 7, Nicolai Klindt 6+2, Sebastian Alden 6+2, Rory Schlein 5, Kozza Smith 4+1, Niels-Kristian Iversen 3.
PETERBOROUGH 33: Dakota North 11+1, Kenneth Bjerre 9, Linus Sundstrom 6, Patrick Hougaard 3+1, Kenni Larsen 2, Ryan Fisher 1+1, Norbert Kosciuch 1.
