NORBERT Kosciuch was in stunning form as he helped lead Peterborough to an emphatic victory over Lakeside on Monday at the Showground.
The Polish star had his biggest pay-night in Britain speedway so far with 15+5 against the play-off chasing Hammers - dropping his only point to former Panther Peter Karlsson.
And it was a good evening all-round for the Readypower Panthers – winning eleven of the fifteen races – with Krzysztof Buczkowski (13+1), Linus Sundstrom (10+1), Kenneth Bjerre (10+1) all in the thick of the action. Plus recent new squad man Jason Bunyan also had a good night in the red and black with a healthy 6+2 score.
Karlsson was top-man for the visitors with a battling 16 point score.
Panthers knew they needed maximum league points from the match to keep their play-off hopes alive and they came out fighting from the start and after the completion of Heat 6 had stormed into a massive 25-11 lead.
Karlsson momentarily stopped the onslaught when winning Heat 7 when on double-points, but the Showground side were in no mood to take things easy and rattled off three further 5-1s to lead 43-20.
Further maximums followed in races 13 and 14 and the sixty-point barrier was broken for the first time this season with skipper Kenneth Bjerre’s second place in heat 15.
Panthers co-boss Jan Staechmann was understandably delighted with the result. He said: “It was a very solid team performance with every man playing their part with some good rides.
“Norbert was very impressive, Krzysztof only dropped one point and Linus also looked very strong until he stopped in his last race.
“It was a very comprehensive victory and we need to keep this up as we have a very important month of racing ahead of us.
“We can take the confidence from this into the two big matches on Wednesday and Thursday against Poole.”
