On Friday night the Thundercats suffered their second defeat of the season going down to the Young Hammers at Lakeside.
In an enjoyable meeting, run at lightning pace, all four Thundercats scored at least a point with captain Ben Holloway being the first Thundercat to win a heat this season. Niall Strudwick and Simon Pearce were very consistent all night and after a couple of falls Jamie got up, dusted himself down and secured a point in his last ride.
Speaking after the meeting Team Manager Neil "Nikko" Day discussed the start of the season. He said: "Again the opponent No 1 scored a home maximum and showed that track time is all important at this level but we are gaining valuable experience during this run of away fixtures and that's all important". Day continued " I was really pleased for Ben when he won his first heat and would like to thank Niall and Simon for their efforts. Jamie was devastated after the meeting because of his falls but he is gating well and he is on a massive learning curve. We have seen at Peterborough what he can do and as we travel to each new track he will gain from the experience. I am convinced he has a great future in the sport, we just need to get him as much track time as possible."
The Thundercats now have back to back meetings against Ipswich starting at Ipswich on Thursday with the return at Peterborough the following Monday.
Due to work commitments Ben Holloway cannot make the meeting at Ipswich and so the Thundercats are pleased to have secured the services of Simon Pearce again. The Thundercats are also looking to bring Tim Nobes into the rotation after the Ipswich meetings.
