PETERBOROUGH boss Trevor Swales has warned that no rider’s job is safe – after admitting it will need a miracle to get into the play-offs.
The Readypower Panthers imploded in dramatic fashion to hand King’s Lynn a vital point in their bid to finish in the top four.
Peterborough threw away an 18-point lead to scrape a 46-44 win after an amazing second half fight back by their East Anglian rivals.
The Panthers led 36-18 after heat nine – and the visitors had already used up both their tactical rides.
But over the last six races they gained five heat advantages, including three 5-1s.
An angry Swales fumed: “I’ve always said that no riders job is always safe, it doesn’t matter if you are number one or number eight and it’s no different now.
“We now have a very, very outside chance of the play-offs but it looks every unlikely.
“We are five points behind with only seven points on offer and the play-offs now look out of reach and we are less than happy.”
Peterborough, who grabbed a point at the Norfolk Arena on Wednesday night, had five non-finishers with Krzysztof Buczkowski and Richard Lawson both gifting points when they fell while in scoring positions.
Nicki Pedersen, Troy Batchelor and Kacper Gomolski also pulled out of races and it leaves Peterborough needing to take seven points from their last two matches against Swindon and hoping and praying their rivals slip up.
Swales admitted: “We’ve not just thrown away one point tonight but I think we threw away three last night too and we certainly aren’t going to qualify for the play-offs if we keep doing that.
“You only need to look at the scorecard to see where the problems were but we are not going to go into that now.
“We will sleep on it overnight and look at it clearer in the morning.
“It was certainly not one of our best performances, in fact we are pretty gutted.”
