TEEN star Kacper Gomolski ended one of the worst weeks of his life – with his first ever maximum.
And he dedicated his unbeaten performance to the memory of his close friend Arkadiusz Malinger.
The 17-year-old Malinger was killed in a practice session at Ginger’s home track Gniezno.
The pair had grown up together in the town and Kacper said: “I am very happy tonight – I did this for Arek.”
His first ever senior full score – he’s never scored a maximum in Poland – deservedly saw him crowned as Stanair Man of the Match.
Peterborough picked up another three points and maintained their unbeaten home record with a 59-34 win over Wolverhampton – even though the Midlanders took a surprise opening race 5-1.
Gomolski turned in a quite stunning performance with a mixture of superb gating – to beat Grand Prix star Fredrik Lindgren – and brilliant, gutsy, all-out racing.
He had to come from the back to overhaul impressive Ty Proctor when the Aussie was on a double-point tactical in Heat 8 and then an even more exciting last-to-second in Heat 12,
Initially he picked off Ludvig Lindgren but was still yards behind Lubos Tomicek going into the last lap but forced his way through to follow home Norbert Kosciuch.
Gomolski’s performance even overshadowed that of his Polish teammate as Kosciuch also celebrated his first Elite League maximum, including three race wins.
He declined sitting out Heat 15 and made sure he didn’t pay for his unselfishness.
WOLVERHAMPTON 34: Fredrik Lindgren 13:1, Tai Woffinden 9, Ty Proctor 9, Ludvig Lindgren 1:1, Lubos Tomicek 1, Tero Aarnio 1, rider replacement for Peter Karlsson.
