PETERBOROUGH made another big splash to brush aside Belle Vue's challenge.
Referee Christina Turnbull called off the Elite League clash after 12 heats at the request of both teams.
And it proved to be exactly the right decision as the rain got heavier and heavier as the Readypower Panthers closed to within three points of the fourth-placed Aces with seven matches in hand with a 50-24 win.
It was a night to remember for young reserve Richard Lawson, who recorded his first ever top-flight race win when he led from tapes-to-flag in Heat eight.
In-form Troy Batchelor recorded his first home paid-maximum for the Panthers while Nicki Pedersen won all three of his completed rides.
And in an all-round team performance there was hardly a weak link in the Panthers’ performance as Norbert Kosciuch and Linus Sundström were both paid for 10 points from four rides.
Panthers’ asset and guest reserve Claus Vissing joined in the points spree and showed his local knowledge with seven from three, including an impressive win over Grand Prix star and Great Britain skipper Chris Harris inHeat 11.
Team boss Trevor Swales said: "It was a very impressive team performance this evening. The boys equipped themselves very well and even before the rain came they were well up for it. We had a job to do and they did it, so you can't ask for more than that.
"I was really pleased for Richard especially, he has been close before but it was good to see him get his first Elite League win and I'm sure that it'll be the first of many. Everyone rode well tonight and you only have to look at the score chart to see that, everyone got a race win.
"The key for us now is to go to Belle Vue and adapt to their track and getsomething up there. We've shown at Coventry that we can do it but we showed at Kings Lynn that sometimes we can't, so it's about finding the Coventry form!
"It's vital for us now that we start nicking points away, starting on Monday."
The Panthers travel to Manchester on Monday (July 25) and then to the Arena Essex Raceway on Friday to take on play-off rivals Lakeside (July 29).
