The Readypower Panthers have climbed to sixth place in the Elite League table after an eighth consecutive home victory, leaving the City side just five points off a play-off place with seven meetings in hand.
It was the start of a big week for the Panthers and they responded to Trevor Swales' rallying call with a big win over play-off rivals Lakeside, who were spared embarrassment by an inspired performance from guest Chris Holder.
The home team flew out of the traps early on and had accrued a ten-point lead by Heat five, with Linus Sundström, Troy Batchelor and Krzysztof Buczkowski recording opening-ride wins.
Poole number one Holder, fresh from top-scoring for Australia in the Speedway World Cup Final on Saturday, was given the responsibility of a double points tactical ride in Heat five but he had no answer to Aussie team-mate Troy Batchelor, who thwarted the threat with a lightning start and comfortable victory.
Four home race winners in the next five heats, Holder's Heat eight victory being the exception, meant that the Panthers had a comfortable cushion throughout and again the Hammers looked for a way back in the meeting with a tactical ride.
Peterborough loanee Piotr Swiderski was the man donning the black and white this time but despite leading Buczkowski for three and a half laps, he only managed two points as the Panther's super Pole went past him on the last turn, very nearly taking Holder on the line too.
From then on the meeting was over as a contest and even two more wins for Holder failed to put the away side in contention for a point, as the Panthers again showed great strength in depth to claim another maximum points victory.
Reserve Richard Lawson, who recorded his highest Elite League score of the season with paid-seven, was happy to continue his good Showground form. He said: "It was a good night for me, definitely. I'm getting used to the track more now and I'm riding much better lines, a lot wider.
"My aim at the moment is to score in every ride, to get rid of the last places. Unfortunately I had one bad one at the end but I'm feeling more and more confident every week. I can feel myself learning the track with every ride and I think it's showing.
"I need to make sure I'm doing the same away now. I am more comfortable at home and now I have to try and get some points in away from home, starting on Wednesday!"
The Panthers continue their busy week with a short trip up the A47 on Wednesday to take on rivals Kings Lynn, without Swedish star Linus Sundström, who is participating in a Swedish Championship semi-final. The Showground men will operate rider-replacement for the youngster, whilst Norfolk Arena track expert Kozza Smith guests for the injured Kacper Gomolski.
