Panthers ace Troy Batchelor has issued a rallying call for his team-mates as they prepare for their toughest test of the season on Monday.
The adverse weather conditions in the afternoon took a toll on the Showground track and the riders clearly found it difficult early on. Dakota North came a cropper in his second ride as he fell while trying to round Daniel Nermark, resulting in a broken finger and thumb for the Aussie youngster.
He was detained in Peteborough City Hospital overnight and will have surgery to pin his finger which is badly broken in threeplaces, forcing him out of Australia's squad for Saturday's Under 21 World Cup semi final.
Former Panther Ales Dryml hurt after a horror smash in heat 14, was also taken to hospital with concussion and a shoulder injury in a bizarre race in which Krzysztof Buczkowski ended up completing fourlapd on his own.
Norbert Kosciuch was excluded from the first attempt to run the race and en in HD re-run Brummies' Claus Vissing fell, bringing down both his own teammate and Buczkowski.
The Panthers again had to battle from behind after a fast start from the visitors, but a string of mid-meeting heat advantages nudged the home side into a lead which they refused to relinquish.
Nicki Pedersen and Troy Batchelor were the inspiration as both registered wins after starting slowly, whilst Swedish hot-shot Linus Sundström and Polish favourites Buczkowski carried on their excellent recent form with paid nine and 10 respectively.
Batchelor, buoyed by another double figures score, called for the Panthers to rally together now for a tricky tie against Kings Lynn on Monday (May 30, 4.30pm) said: "it's a real shame to lose Dak but we have to pick ourselves up and get the job done on Monday.
"It was a tough meeting tonight because what the weather had done to the track, but we got on with it and pulled it out again. We need to keep plugging away."
